CT Scan

In some cases, it may be necessary to obtain a CT scan of the area being considered for dental implant placement. A special type of scanning, known as Cone Beam Computerized Tomography, provides 3-D images which are much more accurate than conventional dental x-rays. This available technology has reduced the guesswork for implant placement by increasing the precision and predictability of the procedure. The cone beam scanner is considerably faster and requires much less radiation exposure than conventional CT scanning machines. The images from this special dental scan are transferred to a computer for analysis. Dr. Bloch and your restorative dentist will use these images to determine the precise size, position and number of dental implants necessary for your particular case.
