Bone Regeneration
In the past, periodontal infections were eliminated by trimming away the infected gum tissue and recontouring the uneven bone. Although this is still an effective way of treating gum disease, new and more sophisticated procedures are used routinely today.
Guided tissue bone regeneration is a treatment method utilized by Dr. Bloch to regain previously lost gum and bone tissue. Many techniques utilize membranes that are inserted over the bone defects. Some of these membranes are bio-absorbable and some require removal. Bone grafting may also be utilized to fill bony defects and stimulate the regrowth of your own bone. Additionally, other regenerative procedures involve the use of bioactive gels.
